International Women’s Day falls on the 8th of March and is a day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all around the world.

National Women’s Day in South Africa is a national holiday celebrated annually on the 9th of August. South Africa commemorates the day on which thousands women of colour marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against amendments to the apartheid laws.

The month of August is considered Women’s Month in South Africa. It is a time used to specifically highlight, empower, honour, and celebrate the beauty and strength of women in society.

Something Me Books is excited to highlight two women who have successfully published the first book by Something Me Books. The Author, Sipiwe Sikwila and illustrator Andrea du Plessis have put in the work and required dedication to producing a fun educational activity book for little learners full of beautiful eye-catching illustrations.

The book titled My Hopi Skopi Activity Book was created out of the newfound challenges faced by so many families globally due to the coronavirus. Without warning, coronavirus pulled the rug from under our feet, leaving families to keep their children educated, entertained, and motivated to want to learn. Out of this worldwide dilemma, the development of various educational materials for little learners was put into motion.

The activity book reviewed and edited by a professional school teacher aims to make learning enjoyable for kids. The book contains stimulating, practical, and easy to understand worksheets and activities that make teaching and learning loads a breeze for both parents and kids. The book is sure to keep little learners aged 5 – 7 busy for hours and engaged in fun activities to grow their minds and skills.

The activity book is available for sale on the Hopinol Skopinol website and Amazon. Single printable pages of the activity book are also available for download via the Hopinol Skopinol Etsy store.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR

Sipiwe Sikwila is a lawyer with a creative side that she expresses through writing, amongst other things. By spending time with her beloved nieces and nephews, she is reminded of how precious a time early childhood development is. Children are amazing sponges for information, so she creates books that feed their imaginations and arms them with real-life skills. When Sipiwe is not working or writing, she enjoys travelling the world, sightseeing, sampling different cuisines, and learning about other cultures. Sunflowers brighten any day, no matter what, so they are her favourite flowers. She also has a soft spot for charities that help and support vulnerable children and does her best to contribute her time and resources to help them.
